January 18th, 2012Browning’s Deb Ball
January 15th, 2012What a great name Browning. I was lucky enough to work on invitation for Browning’s Deb Ball – Todd Events was the planner for this event hopefully the invitation set the tone for a wonderful evening for Browning and guests. The theme was sophisticated safari – think british safari from the 1800′s. We had a great time creating this, thanks to Todd Events for the opportunity.
2012 Letterpress Botanical Calendar
October 17th, 2011I have just finished my first letterpress calendar. I’m kind of liking it. Hope you do too.Take a look below to peruse each month.
The drawings are from plants in my gardens, things from hikes, or vacations … except the mushrooms, I’ve always loved the texture of shitake mushrooms, so I bought those at Whole Foods to draw. Then we had them for dinner.
Hope you enjoy. If you would like to purchase a calendar visit my Etsy shop at here.
The process: Each drawing was completed in pen and ink, then scanned. I then set up the information for the months, added the scanned drawing, added color and chose an appropriate background for each. I then separated all the colors into so that I could have a piece of film negative created for each color for each month. The plates were then created using photopolymer plate material and my trusty platemaker (it took a complete day just to make the plates). Finally I was able to begin printing, 3,200 cranks later printing one color at a time on my Vandercook 4 the calendar was complete. (you can see a few photos of the process at the end of the entry). And it comes in a cloth bag that I also printed on the Vandercook.
DWedding Spring 2011
January 20th, 2011I’m very excited to have 2 of my invitations featured in DWedding this season. The first shown above was designed for Katie Williams. Katie and her mom were so nice to work with and I think the invitation and other paper goods turned out quite lovely.
Katie loves lace and all things antique, we fashioned the shape and outer edge of the border around the type after a pendant that had been in the family, the lace for the background of the invitation was very close to the lace on Katie’s wedding gown. And to top it off a Victorian-esque monogram.
The second invitation is in the article named, Ivy League Flair for a Classic Affair, the one labeled number 3. This was an invitation I did several years back, it has a nice little preppy feel about it. And love the the items picked for this spread, brings quite a few more ideas to mind for new invitation designs. If you don’t have a copy of DWeddings you can see this article at the on-line version here.
